Don't let bad weather sneak up on you!

Since July of 2000, a 1000-watt weather transmitter has been located in Eastman. The transmitter uses the NOAA Weather Radio network of radio stations to broadcast its weather alerts. This system broadcasts National Weather Service warnings, watches, forecasts and other hazard information 24 hours a day.

As a service to our members, Ocmulgee EMC is selling state of the art weather radios by Oregon Scientific and Midland. These radios will have a variety of features such as digital clock with alarm functions; others have AM-FM radio with digital clock. Some models may be programmed to alert you with warnings that affect only your immediate area, while the less expensive models will give alerts in the surrounding areas.
