Commitment to Community is one of Ocmulgee Electric Membership Cooperative’s core principles.

As a member-owned cooperative, Ocmulgee EMC exists to serve more than electric needs. We invest in people, education, safety, and the communities we call home across central Georgia.

This page explains how we put that commitment into action.

Operation Round Up

Small change. Big impact.

Operation Round Up allows members to round their electric bill up to the nearest dollar. Those extra cents stay local and support community needs.

How the Program Helps

Operation Round Up provides financial assistance to:

  • Qualifying charitable and community organizations
  • Local projects with specific, documented needs
  • Individuals and families facing hardship

All donations are tax-deductible, and participating members receive a year-end contribution summary.

How Funding Works

  • Eligible organizations submit applications
  • Requests follow established guidelines
  • A local Foundation Board reviews and approves grants

Investing in young people strengthens our communities.

Washington Youth Tour

Once a year, Ocmulgee Electric Membership Cooperative selects outstanding high school students from our service area to represent Georgia as delegates on the Washington Youth Tour. This nationally recognized program, sponsored by electric cooperatives, provides students with a unique leadership experience and an in-depth look at our nation’s capital—all at no cost to the participants.

Washington Youth Tour participants:

  • Represent Georgia alongside students selected by electric cooperatives statewide
  • Join more than 1,400 students from across the nation for one week in Washington, D.C.
  • Meet with state and national leaders and learn how government works
  • Take part in leadership development activities and training
  • Visit historic monuments, memorials, and major landmarks
  • Receive an all-expenses-paid trip sponsored by Ocmulgee EMC

FFA Wiring Contest

This hands-on competition helps students:

  • Develop electrical wiring skills
  • Practice safety and accuracy
  • Explore technical and utility careers
